You would never expect an ant to be big and neither is this stove. It weighs in at just over three ounces, making it one of the lightest backpacking stoves that can easily be purchased. The fact that this stove weighs next to nothing is a really important factor when it comes to backpacking.

Materials

This stove is made out of 100% titanium. The fact that it is made out of titanium is a really good thing because it means that, while the stove is ridiculously lightweight, it is also very durable and easy to clean.

It is also worth noting that while this stove weighs in at just over three ounces, once the fuel plate and the case have been added to it, it weighs even less before then. The materials that have been used during the construction of this equipment have been chosen specifically to make sure that they can keep the stove as lightweight as possible.

Fuel

This stove is quite literally a fire in a box, albeit a very efficient fire in a box. All it takes is two long twigs to get a fire going using it, twigs that you could find pretty much anywhere on the trail. Stoves that use wood as a fuel source are one of the best things for backpackers to consider because it is the type of fuel source that does not cost money and you are not going to run out of it.

The design of this backpacking stove is nothing that will immediately capture your attention. As we have said, it quite literally looks like a fire in a metal box. Pros

As we have mentioned, the design of this stove is not something that will immediately capture your attention until you consider how easy it will be to put it away. You simply take each piece off of the main stove and lay them down on top of each other until you are left with a pile of pieces of metal. This does take a little bit of time to do, but it should not take too long.

We all have to consider affordability when we are thinking about buying a new piece of equipment because we cannot afford to spend money on equipment that we are not really going to use.

The best thing about backpacking stoves like this one is that they offer you a ‘one-off payment’ structure because you only ever have to pay for them at the time of purchase. With other stoves, you would also have to keep paying for fuel and carrying that around with you.

This stove is called a ‘Fireant’ for a really good reason. Weighing in at around three ounces it is lighter than most of the other stoves that can currently be found on the market. It is also relatively inexpensive, whereas most lightweight backpacking items have a high price due to their lightweight stature.

Cons

While the lightweight nature of this backpacking stove is perfect, it also means that this stove is really small. This means that the fire inside of the box can only grow to a certain size so the flames will go out after a little while.

To stop them from going out you can keep feeding twigs into the bottom of the stove, which means that you will not be able to leave the stove alone for long time periods.

You also have to be careful because the base of this stove can get very hot. It is known to char the surface that you put it on so you should make sure that you use either a patch of dirt or a stone as your base, as opposed to putting it on the grass.

The Emberlit Fireant Backpacking Stove is a great option for backpackers and campers because of how versatile it is. This is evident when it comes to the way in which the stove can be used with other products.

While it has been specifically designed to use wood as a fuel source, you do have the option to integrate it with either a Trangia or an Esbit spirit burner to use different sources of fuel.
